David is an accomplished management consultant with a track record of applying information technology to improve business performance for healthcare providers and payers, governmental and higher education organizations. Experienced in strategy, selection, implementation, and management of enterprise class software applications, as well as utilizing innovative technology to enhance business value. David is a former CIO and Executive Partner at Gartner where he worked with CIOs across multiple industries and their management teams to deliver value across the enterprise. His areas of focus are governance, strategic planning, the business value of IT, organization design, cost optimization and more.
Recent engagements have included:
- Design and implementation of an Enterprise Analytics and Business Intelligence strategy to address market challenges and meet regulatory requirements
- Information Systems Department organizational redesign resulting in recommendations for organizational redesign and staff planning to meet future initiatives
- EHR Evaluation and Selection team lead at an academic medical center
David serves as an Advisory Board Member for the Master of Science in Health Informatics program at Samford University. Additionally, he has served as an adjunct professor in the Master of Science in Health Informatics program at the University of Alabama at Birmingham where he mentored second year graduate students and taught courses related to vendor evaluation, selection and contract negotiation.
In addition to having experience as a health system CIO and Gartner Executive Partner he previously held executive positions with Ernst & Young and Philips Healthcare Transformation Services. David holds an MS in Health Informatics from the University of Alabama at Birmingham, as well as MS and BA degrees from Auburn and Samford Universities respectively.
